Handyworker Program



HANDYWORKER PROGRAM

Provides Free Minor Home Repairs
 Corrects basic health and safety concerns in the home
 Assists the elderly and disabled to remain in their home
 Preserves and maintains habitability of aging homes in the City

Who is Eligible?
Homeowner is a senior (62 years and older) or has a disability
 Owner-occupied single-family home in the City of Los Angeles
Total income of all household, all sources does not exceed income limits below

Other households may qualify under certain conditions:
Disabled family member in the home needing assistance
 2-unit property if 1 unit is owner-occupied

What Services are Available?
Repairs to doors and windows
 Exterior repairs/improvements: fences, gates, porches, steps, walkways
Interior repairs/improvements: flooring, minor wall/ceiling repairs
Life Safety: smoke detectors, carbon monoxide detectors
Minor electrical repairs: light fixtures, outlets, switches
Minor plumbing repairs: sinks, faucets, toilets, water heater
Accessibility improvements: ramps, hand rails, grab bars, disabled access toilets
Earthquake Safety: Brace water heater, seismic gas shutoff valve
 Building repairs: Gutters, vents, siding/trim/fascia, stucco patch
Painting

All work is subject to availability of funds.  Program policies are subject to change.

Eligibility must be documented and provided to your assigned contractor, including:
age or disabled status (ID, SSI letter) income (i.e., tax returns, SSA award letter, pay stubs)  ownership (property tax bill) residency (utility bill)
